This is a very interesting article! It reminds me of Denham's free radial theory of aging; increased free radicals may also impede the differentiation of M2 macrophages, which could be why we tend to develop more prominent scarring when healing from wounds at an older age (compared to when we were children, where cuts on our knees seemingly heal up without a trace).
